How importers use these rates
- Validate a supplier's USD quote against their CNY domestic price list (÷ rate, then compare).
- Time large payments: on a $50,000 PO, a 0.5% rate move is $250 — real money at scale.
- Negotiate currency clauses (e.g. re-quote if USD/CNY moves > 2% between PO and B/L date).
How often are these exchange rates updated?
Rates are European Central Bank (ECB) daily reference rates, refreshed hourly on this page. ECB publishes once per day on TARGET business days (approx. 16:00 CET).
What is the current USD to CNY exchange rate?
1 USD ≈ 6.7223 CNY (offshore renminbi, ECB reference of 2026-09-01). Banks and payment providers add a spread on top of the reference rate.
Should I quote my purchase order in USD or CNY?
Most Chinese consumer-electronics manufacturers quote export orders in USD; domestic-trade transactions and small sample orders are increasingly quoted in CNY. Compare both with your supplier and factor the payment provider's FX spread into your landed cost.
Are these rates the exact rate my bank will give me?
No. ECB reference rates are mid-market rates. Expect your bank or payment provider (wire, PingPong, Wise, etc.) to add a margin of roughly 0.2%–2% depending on the corridor and instrument.
